Authorities say a caregiver helped a paraplegic man into the shower before taking his ATM card, $200, two computers and other items from his home.
Kristen Doris pleaded not guilty at her arraignment Friday to charges including larceny in a building and possessing a financial transaction device. She was released Saturday on $20,000 bond.
The 26-year-old Doris was arrested Thursday after 43-year-old Patrick Hazelton managed to get out of the shower and into his wheelchair and call St. Clair Shores police.
Detective Sgt. David Centela tells the Detroit Free Press and The Macomb Daily of Mount Clemens that Doris and Hazelton had argued earlier Thursday when he asked her to provide paperwork certifying she was assisting him with his daily needs.
Police have no records indicating whether Doris has an attorney.
