For the second time in two weeks this election year, Vice President Dick Cheney stopped in Michigan to campaign, this time to raise money for Michigan House Candidate Tim Walberg. And while the vice presidential visits are becoming more frequent, it’s no casual event.

Bomb sniffing dogs and dozens of police cars greeted Vice President Dick Cheney as he landed at Capital City Airport Thursday morning. Capital City Airport Authority Executive Director Robert F. Selig says there are no single local law enforcement agencies with enough patrols to do the job. The Secret Service works with local, state, and airport police together to make it all possible.

Travelers at the airport saw little disruption, despite the V.I.P. visit. At most, Selig says they experienced a short delay. All traffic in the airport stopped while Air Force Two landed and Vice President Dick Cheney left the airport.
