Equal rights for parents is the focus of a rally at the state capitol Wednesday.
Several family and parental rights advocacy groups were there to throw their support behind a joint custody bill that's currently pending in the state House.
The legislation would require judges to start with the presumption that it's in the child's best interest for both parents to get joint custody.
However, those opposed are worried about domestic violence issues. The also believe child custody cases should be looked at on an individual basis.
Hearings on the bill are expected later this fall.
