BENTON TOWNSHIP - A 35 year old man was killed in a collision on M-100 Monday morning. Eaton County Sheriff's Office says preliminary evidence indicates that Matthew Dupree of Mulliken died when he lost control of the mini-van he was driving southbound on M-100 in Benton Township and struck a northbound vehicle at about 8:20am. The driver of the second car, a 35-year old Charlotte woman, was injured and taken to Sparrow Hospital. The severity of her injuries are unknown at this time. Both drivers were wearing their seat belts. The sheriff's office say they believe weather conditions may have played a significant role in the crash.

Road conditions were treacherous for many in Mid-Michigan during the Monday commute. Eaton County reported 27 cars had slid into the ditch and at least 10 accidents causing property damage. The Jackson County Sheriff's Department reports 34 property damage accidents and 2 accidents with injuries. Ingham County estimated 15 accidents during the morning commute.
