Randy Thayer was named plant manager for the General Motors Delta Township Assembly Plant.
Thayer says it’s the third time in his career he’s managed a GM plant, and the second plant in Michigan.
Thayer has worked for GM since 1973 and says safety and quality will be his first orders of business for the yet unfinished plant.
A GM spokesperson says the plant will house up to 2,500 jobs and construction on the facility will begin early in 2004.
The plant is expected to open in the fall of 2006.
