He's only been on the job for three weeks, but Mike Brown, the new CEO of the Capital Area United Way, already knows financial support from local labor unions is crucial for the group's fundraising efforts.

Brown is working to rally together labor unions, which provide nearly 60-percent of the money obtained through fundraising. Some members of some unions questioned whether or not to continue contributing to the organization after a $2 million embezzlement became public a few months ago.

Brown and the United Way are now working to improve and revive their long-lasting relationship with unions before their first major fundraising campaign since the embezzlement kicks off in August.
