The Emerald Ash Borer is wreaking havoc on ash trees throughout the state. The Michigan Department of Agriculture says six counties in the state are quarantined and officials say they have confirmed the infestation in Ingham and Jackson counties.

MDA field crews are now concentrating on locating the infestation. On Friday, crews searched trees in Central Park in Okemos looking for any signs of the beetle.

Livingston County horticulture agents say there are 300 infested trees in the county. Tiny leaves, loose bark, and d-shaped holes are all signs that ash trees are under attack.

The beetle lives in live and dead wood and experts say they believe it came to the United States through crates from China.
