A Laingsburg army reservist died in Iraq on Sunday. Army officials are still investigating what caused Capt. Paul Cassidy's death. They say he died as a result of non-combat injuries.

Employees at the Meridian Township Clerk's office remember Capt. Paul J. Cassidy as a funny, friendly and hardworking individual.

He worked at the Meridian Township clerk's office since 1995 and recently became the Department Secretary. Co-workers remember him as an organized, funny and giving person.

Cassidy served in the 423rd Civil Affairs Battalion. Co-workers say he was in Iraq helping construct a new sewerline in the area. Cassidy previously served humanitarian missions in Kosovo and Bosnia.
