The Michigan Department of Transportation is working to replace parts of the bridge over West Avenue in Jackson County, and it could last a while. MDOT says half of the repairs needed will be done this fall and the rest next spring.
Here's what it means for your commute. Right now I-94 is down to two lanes and several ramps in the area are closed. You can't exit to US-127 N from I-94, and from US-127 S you can't exit to I-94. Plus the ramp from West Avenue to WB I-94 is closed.
MDOT says this is an emergency project it accelerated after inspections on the bridge earlier this year.
