A news release by the Lansing School District said that in June, 54 of the 154 teachers receiving pink slips would be assured they still had their old job. But in July officials have yet to send out any notification.

Mark Mayes, Lansing Schools Spokesperson, says the delay is due to making sure recalls are done accurately.

A teacher’s union spokesperson says anxiety is building from teachers who have yet to know where they will work next year.

Mayes says a decision in the recall process will be finalized as early as next week or as late as the end of July.
