It's the green light for hundreds of new jobs to come to Mid-Michigan. hat's what Lansing's mayor is saying about a judge's decision to dismiss a lawsuit filed by Attorney General Mike Cox against Blue Cross Blue Shield. It means The Accident Fund can move forward on its new headquarters in downtown Lansing.

Cox sued Blue Cross after it gave money to The Accident Fund, a Blue Cross subsidiary. The money was used to buy another insurance company. Cox claimed that violated Blue Cross' non-profit status and asked the court to block the deal. The judge ruled no laws were broken.
The fear was this would somehow keep The Accident Fund from building the new Lansing HQ. Mayor Virg Bernero says the suit was never about the law.

"I think this was a politically motivated lawsuit to begin with," he told wilx.com, "And i think politicians should make their point in the political realm and not have to do it in court and i think that's essentially what the judge said."

Construction on the new Accident Fund HQ has been underway at the site of the old Ottawa Power Station since October. The project could bring 500 jobs to the area in the end.
