Georgia authorities say an 86-year-old hang glider from Battle Creek, Mich., has died after hitting a tree as he tried to land.
Dade County sheriff's Sgt. Matt Cole says Jonas Blanton was attempting to land in a field about 4 p.m. Sunday when he hit the tree. Cole says the man was killed instantly.
Cole says the flight was part of Blanton's annual hang-gliding trip and that the man had completed a tandem flight earlier in the day.
