DEARBORN, Mich. (AP) -- Nearly a thousand Arab-Americans and others marched through Dearborn to protest Israeli military strikes against the Gaza Strip.
Protesters braved 30-degree weather yesterday evening to chant slogans and wave Palestinian flags along a major road in the Detroit suburb, widely seen as the heart of Arab America.
Since Saturday, at least 370 Palestinians have died in Israeli air attacks on Gaza's Islamic Hamas rulers. Most of the dead were members of Hamas security forces but the United Nations says at least 64 civilians have been killed.
A memorial service for victims of the fighting was scheduled for last night in Dearborn. But it was delayed because the reception hall couldn't hold all the protesters.
