GM Cuts Production by Six-Percent

General Motors announced they would be cutting back on N. American production by six-percent in their third quarter. This cut is the second consecutive quarterly cut for the world’s largest automaker. Lansing officials are confident they’ll dodge any subsequent cuts in production or personnel for the second straight quarter as well.

A GM spokesperson said the products made in Lansing like the Cadillac CTS are bucking the soft consumer demand trends, and that should insulate Lansing from any cuts.

Despite shaving production forecasts, GM sales increased four-percent in May from the same time a year ago.

GM says the production cutback will in no way impact the progress of any cars or operations in Lansing including the Delta Township Plant.
