Three Palestinian-American men from Texas who were found buying a lot of cell phones won't face terrorism-related charges.
Federal authorities took over the case after a Tuscola County prosecutor asked a judge to drop the state charges.
Maruan Muhareb, Adham Othman and Louai Othman were charged with collecting or providing materials for terrorist acts and surveillance of a vulnerable target.
Their attorney says the new charges are connected to counterfeiting.
The men's supporters say they were targeted because of their ethnicity. They contend the photos the men took of the Mackinac Bridge were innocent tourist snapshots.
The FBI has said the bridge isn't in danger and there's no information linking the men to known terrorists.
