In the weeks leading up to the primary election, much of the attention locally focused on the Republican campaign battle between incumbent Rep. Joe Schwarz and Candidate Tim Walberg.
Now it’s over, and in an unusual event, the incumbent will not move forward in the race. Now Walberg will face Democratic Candidate Sharon Renier. Walberg admits, this too could be an intense race.
Here's a look at who they both are. Renier is an organic farmer and paralegal who has worked as a women's advocate for the United Nations. She wants voters to know she is a moderate democrat who believes in smaller government and is also a member of the N.R.A..
Walberg is a pastor with 16 years of experience with the Michigan House of Representatives. He says his conservative views will help him win. Michigan's 7th district is sure to hear much more about them before the November election.
