It seems like these gift cards can be traced--if you call one of the companys of the gift cards---with the serial number they should be able to tell you--where the gift card was bought (I should think)
It's beeen over a month, did the lady who "lost" the gift cards ever contact target about them? I can understand both sides here, but if I had that many gift cards I would have been freakin out long before a news story!
I agree with Jimmy and for "sister" she should have returned the purse long before keeping it for 30 days. The owner doesn't deserve them back.
Knowing Connie as I do she did the right thing cause that's the kind of person she is.
I know what happened. My sister and I were shopping last week and we were talking how she mis-placed a stack of gift cards that she purchased through school to lower her tuition. (TRIP) Mystery solved. When she read the article in the paper today she realized where her cards were. She purchased a purse from Target on 9/16 and returned it on 10/20. After buying the purse, she moved all her belongings from her existing purse into her new one only to find out she didn't like the way everything fell to the middle. She then pulled everything out (she thought) and used her old purse, returned the purse and continued to turn her house upside down looking for her gift cards. Now her dilemma is getting her cards back. She also wants to reward the good Samaritan who so kindly turned in her cards.
Glad to hear that there are still honest people out there. =)
With all the bad press gift cards have received in the past few days, it's good to hear something positive. I work for a company that manages gift cards, and I follow gift card related issues on savvywallet.com. One thing to consider, is that gift cards is a common way to launder money. Although, the gift cards in the bag seems semi suspicious, there isn't enough evidence to say otherwise. Just be careful. My advice? Wait it out and go spend it!
finders keepers you people know the rest. some day people will learn to keep the mouthes shut and enjoy the good luck... I found a 100 doller bill at the casino on the floor i put it in a machine turned it into 500 dollars and left the casino...
So, what's to stop someone now from going to the police and saying "Hey, those are mine?" The story tells where some of them came from and all one would have to say is "I had so many that I can't recall every store or amount that was on them."
I think they should be used for the warm the children or the homeless.
thank you for doing the right thing
I went shopping there last saturday, hmmm shoulda bought a purse!
