20 years is not enough.
That's according to the Lansing Area AIDS Network.
LAAN members recognized World AIDS Day with a ceremony in East Lansing on Monday.
The event featured speakers and a choir, but organizers say much more is needed to keep people aware of AIDS.
World AIDS Day started in 1988 and some worry this is making is making people too complacent.
"It gets put in the back of people's minds. It's not talked about as much. There is a really high rate of AIDS infections among young,, 14-25 year olds," said Matt Hulbert of LAAN.
Meanwhile, the Olin Health Center is also noting World AIDS Day by remembering those who have died from HIV-AIDS, with part of the NAMES Project AIDS Memorial Quilt.
The quilt will be on display at the Kresge Art Center through Sunday.
