Friday volunteers got busy setting up for East Lansing's 2nd Annual "Walk to Cure Diabetes." They say they expect hundreds to turn out to help raise money to cure juvenile diabetes.
Juvenile diabetes is an auto-immune disease that causes your pancreas to stop producing insulin. It has to be constantly monitored and can eventually lead to kidney failure, amputation, and even stroke.
Nine-year-old Sammy Weaver says she will be at the walk. She and her cousins spent Friday selling lemonade at their grandparent's business, the Douglas J. Salon. Sammy has juvenile diabetes and wanted to sell lemonade to help find a cure.
If you'd like to participate, the walk starts at the Duffy Daugherty Football Building at MSU. Registration is at 8:30 a.m., and the walk begins at 9:30.
