Right now it’s not a seller's market. A rough economy means people have less money to buy, and there are more foreclosed homes on the market. Demetria and Joseph Burton are hoping that by giving back, they can beat the market and the competition and sell their home.
The couple listed their home in April. After three months they got to brainstorming on how to get it sold. They decided they would donate an undisclosed portion of the proceeds from the sale to help a charity. They say the idea can work one of two ways. They will either donate to the buyer's charity of choice, or to the charity that refers a buyer to them. The couple says they hope other sellers use their idea too, and thereby help both the housing market and local charities.
