In a News 10 Consumer Alert---
General Electric is recalling nearly a quarter of a million wall ovens because of a problem with the door.
The problem is that some of the ovens may have their door attached incorrectly, allowing enough heat to escape during the self-cleaning cycle to pose a fire and burn hazard.
The recall involves wall ovens sold under the GE, GE Profile, Monogram and Kenmore brands.
At least 28 incidents of minor property damage to kitchen cabinets have been reported.
The ovens were sold nationwide from October 2002 to December 2004 and cost between $900 and $3,600.
Consumers are asked to immediately inspect their oven to see if it has an incorrectly reattached door, which will not open into the flat position.
If incorrectly reattached, consumers should not use the self-clean cycle and can call GE for a free repair at 1 888 569-1588.
More details about the recall can be found by clicking on the link below.
