GOP candidate for governor Dick DeVos says he supports the death penalty but would not push to reinstate it if he was elected governor. He says he is "comfortable" with the state's current 100 year ban on the practice.
At an event on Monday DeVos also disclosed he will vote yes on a statewide ballot plan to legalize dove hunting on a limited basis. In addition he says he will not support embryonic stem cell research saying it raises serious questions about life.
On the same issues, incumbent Jennifer Granholm, opposes capitol punishment, favors stem cells studies, and agrees with DeVos on creating a dove hunting season in Michigan.
