Michigan State Police say they have broken up an unusual and sophisticated theft ring.
They say a group of thieves used fake sales receipts to steal merchandise from the loading docks of Home Depot stores around the Lower Peninsula and then sold the items on eBay.
State police say they have seized more than $40,000 worth of stolen merchandise while executing search warrants.
They don't know how many items were sold through the Internet auction site.
Three people have been arrested and four others are being sought. Their identities aren't being released until they're charged in court.
State police also seized equipment they say was used to make the fake receipts.
