9/2/08 TALEGAON, India: General Motors Corp. opened a second plant in India on Tuesday, boosting its production capacity from 85,000 to 225,000 vehicles a year. GM invested US$300 million in the new plant in Talegaon near Pune, a fast-growing manufacturing hub about two hours outside Mumbai, the nation's financial capital.
Michigan workers must take advantage of our school system and become better educated. It's the only card we can play to compete globally for jobs. Beyond that, we must become leaders in clean and renewable energy technologies that will become mandatory as fossil fuels are used up and climate change proceeds.
They are going where the money is. They need every edge to keep ahead in the world market.
GM asking for a bail out from Congress, damn good thing Congress said no. 700 GM workers in the Lansing area losing their jobs. GM should have kept the $300 million they used on this factory in Russia and put it back into the US economy. How's your UAW Locals working for you now?
On the same page of headlines we see 700 local jobs could be lost, GM loses $2.5 Billion, Unemployment at 14 year high --- AND GM opens Russian plant. What's wrong with this picture?
Gm is closing plants in US but opening plants in Rossia. What a discrase to GM. Shame on them. Traitors

I laugh many times with gusto at poor American worker. You trust in work-czars that they keep your job here. When you learn czar don't care for worker you know what Ivan says. It's all about the gold.
Mike--The story states, "This plant is GM's first in Russia, where demand for cheap, well-built cars has exploded amid a decade-long economic boom." It says nothing about importing these Russian built cars into the US. I assumed GM will have Russians building cars for the Russian people.

NO BAILOUTS! They created this mess by gouging the consumer for years. Takes $10,000 to make a car but charge $45,000 for the darn thing only to have recalls. Nope no BAILOUTS! The union is where not here, they are worthless & support who, themselves & bargain for what, certainly not better wages or benies. Worst health insurance coverage . . no office coverage for line workers unless you want to use BCN and those Drs. are just practicing for when they can land a real job. Too bad the workers didn't speak up 20-30 years ago so there could be a legacy! Nope no bailout! Time to cut the pencil pushers and let them play golf on their unemployment check instead of the taxpayers!
How nice,after laying off many people here and causeing more job loss and adding to a bad economy.Bail outs should not be given to any company building factories ect in other countries.heavy find and many things should be done to companies choosing to give other countries our JOBS!Traders to the american people.We see how bad the usa is now that so many jobs left here.Thoes other people in other countries will work for so much less.We couldn't do without unions and their demands.Now look at where companies are.NOT IN THE USA.
