One man is dead after drowning in Lake Wilson in Hillsdale County. Hillsdale County Sheriffs were dispatched to a boating incident on Lakeshore Dr. on Lake Wilson just after 2:30am Saturday.
Upon arrival, deputies discovered that five subjects were out on the lake for recreational purposes. Three of them were in a flat bottom boat, and two in a canoe.
The canoe capsized, leaving two men- 21 year old Michael Joel Snyder, and 43 year old Lee Hineline, both of Ohio, to fall into the lake. Hineline was able to tread water and eventually gripped the capsized boat until he was pulled to shore. After no response from Snyder, a woman from the other boat jumped in the water in an attempt to rescue him. She was unsuccessful.
Recovery efforts went on all weekend, but were unsuccessful. They are expected to continue this week.
