Lansing Schools say 150 jobs may need to be cut in order to mend its 10 million dollar budget deficit. Some administrators wonder if the district’s school programming could suffer as a result.

Dale Glynn, Principal of Lansing’s Everett High School says that if the district makes cuts in staff it’s likely his programming will suffer.

Everett focuses on business and the performing arts, and a decrease in teachers could affect classes offered in those areas.

Glynn believes his class size will jump from an average of 23 to just under 30 if teachers are laid-off.

A spokesperson for the district says retirements and attrition will lessen the burden of job cuts and early estimates show between 60 and 80 teachers will be laid off.
