Severe thunderstorms developed across lower Michigan late Wednesday afternoon. These storms moved into an air mass that was primed for big storms.
A Tornado Watch was issued for the area into the late evening. These storms produced heavy rains of two to three inches across the southern counties, high winds up to 60 miles and hour and hail up to 2 inches in diameter.
Several tornado warnings were issued during the afternoon but so far no confirmation from the National Weather Service that these were tornadoes.
