State Republicans want to restrict who can get overtime pay when the minimum wage increases on October first.
A bill was passed in the State House Tuesday to keep nurses, salespeople, truck drivers and other ineligible for overtime pay.
Supporters of the bill say businesses will have to lay off workers if the law isn't passed.
A Granholm spokeswoman says the governor doesn't see a need for the law.
It got through the House on party lines and now heads to the Senate.
