Police say a tractor-trailer has crashed into an bus overloaded with members of an Amish church, turning the bus onto its side and sending 14 people to the hospital, including several children.
State Police Trooper Randy Phare says the 13-seat bus was packed with 22 people when it was struck Thursday by a semitrailer while making a lane change on U.S. 23 about 40 miles west of Detroit.
Phare says most of those injured sustained cuts and bruises, and none of the injuries were believed to be life-threatening.
Huron Valley Ambulance spokeswoman Joyce Williams says eight people refused treatment at the scene.
The bus was carrying members of the Mount Pleasant-area church to a funeral in Ohio.

Agree with writer from Hillsdale; did they have the proper child equipment ; will they be cited for too many occupants;etc. Seems as if they get away with alot more violations then average "joe-citizen".

What laws did they break? I don't know of a bus that has seat belts and school kids don't use booster seats on a school bus. Why would we assume that the tax payers are paying the bills? Did you get up on the worng side of the bed?

Here we go! Let`s stay tuned to see if these Amish were given any kind of citations for seatbelt and booster seats. Thier in a motor vehicle so it sounds fair game to me! Religion allows them to break laws. Now, the taxpayers get to pay thier medical bills. Please follow up on this story!!!
