UPDATE - Lansing Police now say that they have questions some witnesses, as well as a man they describe as a person of interest, in the investigation into the death of a man whose body was found in the Grand River Thursday morning. Police say that person of interest is in their custody.

Police say they know the identity of the man whose body was found, but are not releasing his name until they can contact his next of kin.

The body of a a man in his late 40's was pulled from the Grand River in Lansing's Old Town neighborhood Thursday morning.

Lansing police say that at around 8:50 a.m. someone walking on the river walk saw the body caught in some debris in the river near the intersection of Grand River Avenue and Washington Avenue.

They believe the body had not been in the water more than 24 hours. There were no obvious indications as to what caused the man's death. An autopsy will be performed Friday.

Police ask anyone who might have information about what happened to give Det. Sgt. Scott Schulke of the North Precinct Detective Bureau a call at 483-4628.
