Teachers in the Jackson Public School District will find out tonight the number of people that might be laid off.
Layoff decisions are expected to be made at tonight's board meeting. School leaders are trying to erase the over $1.5 million budget deficit.
Officials originally discussed laying off about 15 teachers... but now say that number could be as low as six. They say retiring teachers will help reduce some of the deficit.
Administrators say their goal is to keep the cuts out of the classroom.
