The North Network Center along with the American Cancer Society sponsored the first annual "Find the Facts, Fight the Fears" health forum. It's first topic, cancer. The free conference concentrated specifically on prostate and breast cancer. And according to the North Network Center's Executive Director, Walter Brown, the free sessions are a wonderful opportunity for the community.
"This is extremely important because this is a low income neighborhood, and not just that. We want to make sure that we get this type of information out to the community so that they can understand the importance of preventative medicine."
Saturday's event is just the first in a series of health forums for this year. The next is scheduled for August 5th. The topics include heart disease, diabetes, and stroke. For more information contact the North Network Center at 517-346-5794.
