Michigan State Police Troopers are taken on a wild ride in Ionia County, chasing one of their own police cruisers, after it was stolen by a 19-year-old who was handcuffed inside.
It happened last night on Grand River Avenue east of M-66 near Portland.
Police say they had four teens in custody inside the vehicle; the 19-year-old was handcuffed in the front seat. Authorities say he somehow managed to get over to the driver's side and then drive off.
The teen eventually lost control of the car and crashed it into a nearby field. Police are now trying to figure out how he got control of the cruiser.
State Police say it's standard procedure to have suspects in the front seat of the cruiser. They say the 19-year-old was arrested in connection with reports of stolen vehicles in the area.
