Michigan Soldier Killed
Soldier from Weidman killed in Afghanistan

WEIDMAN, Mich. (AP) -- A soldier from mid-Michigan has been killed while serving in Afghanistan.
The Department of Defense says Army Sergeant 1st Class Gregory Rodriguez, of Weidman, died Tuesday of wounds suffered when his patrol came under small arms fire.
The 35-year-old Rodriguez was assigned to the K-9 unit of the 527th Military Police Company. The Morning Sun of Mount Pleasant says Rodriguez was a dog handler.
The paper says funeral arrangements are incomplete.
Weidman is about 50 miles north of Lansing in Isabella County.
