After heated debate and a third budget balancing proposal, Lansing City Council Members vote 38 jobs back in the budget.

Wednesday, Carol Wood proposed adding the positions back in using surplus money from the city's rainy day reserves allocated for this year's budget. At Thursday's budget hearing, Mayor Virg Bernero said no, standing by his decision to not use reserves or raise taxes to get rid of an $11 million deficit.

Late into the meeting, Fourth Ward Council Member Tim Kaltenbach suggested adding the jobs back in the budget and funding them by making a roughly two percent, across the board cut in every city department. Bernero said he was willing to talk about that, Council too so members voted the jobs back in and will meet with the Mayor's Office Friday to crunch numbers.
