JPS will hold community forums all this week, asking parents and community members for constructive criticism on how to spend their money.
Those forums are Tuesday at Northeast Elementary School, Wednesday at Jackson High, and Thursday at Frost Elementary School. All begin at 6:30 p.m. and are scheduled to end at 8 p.m.
The district proposes cutting 15 teacher positions, one secretary, and 10 paraprofessionals as well as privatizing the special ed busing system, eliminating 15 jobs there.
They also would cut funding for gifted students in competitions and for the Reading Recovery program. The reading program lost its funding countywide.
