Homeland Security State Deputy Director, Captain John Ort, met with the House Veterans Affairs and Homeland Security Committee Thursday afternoon.

He says next fiscal year, the state is scheduled to receive more than $41 million in federal funds to advance bioterrorism preparedness efforts including helping local communities track communicable diseases and develop and distribute pharmaceutical stockpiles in case of a bioterrorism disaster.

Ort says efforts are also underway to insure mutual aid will be available between communities and states in case of a disaster.
