"After careful deliberation and with a heavy heart, I regret to inform you that the 2014 Varsity Football Season has been cancelled.Safety is the number one priority of the district. Seven seniors and two juniors were eligible for this team. While we had a few sophomores who could have provided some support, there simply were not enough athletes to conduct a healthy season."

East Jackson High School

East Jackson High School has announced that the high school will not have a varsity football team for the 2014 season.

The school posted a letter on their website, announcing the decision. The letter cites safety concerns as the primary reason for the cancellation.

The letter states that there were not enough eligible upperclassmen to allow the team to conduct a healthy season. The school will have a junior varsity team that will include players from grades 9-11. The school's marching band will play at the JV games, and the school's homecoming will take place at a JV game.
