LANSING - A 40-year-old man was critically injured in a shooting Monday night. The man suspected of shooting him is a long-time acquaintance. The suspected gunman was caught after a brief chase in Lansing late Monday night.

Lansing police were called to a home in the 2400 block of Maplewood Avenue shortly after 10 p.m. Police say, upon arrival witnesses told them the victim had come to the home of the suspect. They had a conversation outside, and the 29-year-old shot the man and drove away. The victim had walked way after being shot.

Police located the victim nearby on Lincoln Avenue. He had a gunshot wound to his abdomen, and was rushed to the hospital. He is in critical condition.

Police broadcast a description of the suspect's car. A state police trooper on patrol spotted the suspect's car about half-an-hour later near the intersection of Mt. Hope Road and Washington Avenue. Lansing and MSP patrol officers attempted to stop the car, but the driver did not stop. After a 4-block pursuit, the suspect pulled over and was arrested without further incident. Police say a handgun was found at the traffic stop. The 29-year-old man was taken to the hospital for evaluation.

Police continue to investigate.
