On your mark, get set, spend.
That's just what local businesses say NASCAR fans are doing; putting the economy right back on track.
"We have 13 people staying here right now, and of the 13 people 11 are going to the race, " said Mary Moore of the Chicago Street Inn Bed & Breakfast in Brooklyn, MI.
Moore says nearly 12 percent of their annual business comes from NASCAR weekend, and patrons are already planning to pack the place next year.
"We already have reservations for next year, for the June and August races, they're looking forward to a good time, they come into Brooklyn, they'll see Brooklyn, they want to see the downtown, they want to experience everything that the area has to offer," Moore said.
And once the fans are settled in Brooklyn, MI., businesses say they're ready to buy.
"My credit card business doubles, they save up for these events, it's a major thing for them," said Jerry Andonian, owner of Jerry's Pub in Brooklyn, MI.
The restaurant had nearly 300 customers Thursday, Friday and Saturday, and Andonian says it's all thanks to diners making pit stop at his place.
"The race has a major impact on business here, like twice as much, we double our business for the whole week," Andonian said.
A slow economy speeding up to the pace of NASCAR patrons.
