Just two days before she would have turned one-month-old, a Jackson baby dies and Police say her mother's 25-year-old boyfriend killed her.

Wednesday morning, Jackson Police were called to Foote Hospital. The baby had been brought in badly injured. The mother and boyfriend said they didn't know what had happened, she may have even been injured herself while she was in her crib. The baby girl was bruised, had some sort of injury to her mouth, internal injuries as well and there was blood surrounding her brain. She was airlifted to the University of Michigan Mott Children's Hospital where she died Thursday morning.

After a second interview with Police, the mother and boyfriend changed their stories and Wednesday evening the boyfriend was arrested. He's being held in the Jackson County Jail on a First Degree Child Abuse charge and an Open Murder charge. He will most likely be arraigned Friday.

A four-year-old girl, the baby's mother's daughter, lived in the apartment with the couple. She has been placed in foster care while the state's Department of Human Services investigates. She showed no signs of abuse and police do not believe drugs or alcohol were a factor. The mother is not believed to have any part in the baby's death.
