Congressman Mike Rogers welcomed 205 men and women to the United States during a citizenship ceremony Monday morning.

People from 47 countries recited a citizenship oath and the Pledge of Allegiance.

Ali Azzaidi from Basra, Iraq was among the new American citizens. He has lived in Lansing for six years, and he's a mechanical engineering student at Lansing Community College.

Azzaidi says he fled Iraq to Saudi Arabia 12 years ago, and he's glad to be in the United States, where he says he feels free.
