"I want people to see that farmers are good people and we're working hard to produce food. And we love the animals and the land"

Derek Klingenberg

Derek Klingenberg is a Kansas farmer with an unusual way of calling the cattle in.

He uploaded a video to YouTube showing him stetting up a lawn chair in an empty field. He sits down and begins playing "Royal" by Lorde on it. Within moments of his impromptu serenade, cattle can be seen on the horizon, coming over the hill to listen.

His eager audience quickly grows, as the cattle gallop across the field, and come up to him, watching attentively as he plays!

Derek tells us that this is the time of year when they round up the cattle that have been grazing in the Flinthills, in Kansas. He uses the music to let the cattle know that it's dinner time. Giving the cattle food helps to round up the cattle from the hills more easily.

Derek has other videos that he has uploaded to his YouTube Channel, you can check them out by clicking the link to the right of this story. He says that he makes his fun videos to let people see that farmers are good people, who work hard to produce food.
