DETROIT (AP) -- The Coast Guard reports a 656-foot freight ship has run aground in a shipping channel of Lake St. Clair.
A news release from the Coast Guard says there are no initial reports of pollution or injuries.
The Coast Guard says in the release that it received notice early Sunday that the Federal Rideau, a Hong Kong-flagged ship, was grounded near the Detroit River.
The vessel is carrying wheat and was en route to Montreal.
The Coast Guard says an attempt to refloat the freighter was unsuccessful after one of two tugs experienced motor issues. The statement says two more tugs are scheduled to arrive Sunday night to attempt another refloating.
The channel remains open to traffic.
