It was 17-year-old Davin Lewis of Lansing who was gunned down Thursday on the playground of Grand River Elementary Magnet School.
Friday, parents and police met on that same playground to talk about ways to decrease crime in the area. Lewis spent most of Friday in surgery and remains in critical condition.
People who live near the school say there's a definite drug problem in the area and they want police to take action. Lansing Police Captain Ray Hall promises increased patrols and monthly crime statistics.
Meantime, Lewis' family maintains he was just in the wrong place at the wrong time and his shooting was not drug related. Police tell News Ten Lewis had just been released from the county jail a few weeks ago.
