A scam artist could dial your number and con you out of your money. Michigan State Police say a new scam has hit this area.
They say the con artist calls you and pretends to be a Michigan State Police dispatcher. He or she says your family member was involved in a serious accident, and needs to go to the hospital.
A second imposter gets on the line and claims to be in the medical field. That person says you must pay in advance before they can transport your loved one.
Police say if this really did happen to your family member, they would relay the message in person. Also, you'll never have to pay before being taken to the emergency room.
