Aren't you lucky! Our post office is open from 9 am to 4:30 pm M-F, & open one hour on Saturday 9 am to 10 am. It also closes for one hour at lunch, 12:30 pm to 1:30 pm. We also get overcharged postal rates because we have all the old equipment, scales & such. I save money on my ebay packages by driving 30 minutes away to mail them because the old scales are off. The credit card machine is always non working. The old postmaster use to accommodate customers due to the bad conditions, but the new one is queen regulation & hateful, so the towns people are just postal handicapped because of it. I tried to put in a hold last Friday at lunch, but of course they were closed. I dropped one in the box, which they returned to my box on Saturday (after I was out of town) saying they would not hold because I did not fill out right. I needed pick up this morning for an incoming check or it would cost me hundreds, & she just slammed the door in my face when I went up there to talk to them.

Sall towns like ours has no door to door delivery. We all get to go to the post office to pick up our own mail,Sometimes mail is put in the wrong box.Just gets throwed away. Some have lost income for a month as the paper work didn't get where it must go.If I get someone elses mail I at least return it.It may not be yours but it may be very important to someone else. Our small town hours are not exact.Lunch time goes alittle longer or for some reason window isn't open on time. Many things are going to end up with less hours.Whos buying. Some towns close up at 5:00,Jobs are proof we are in trouble. Many just left.Laid off or Just barely are open.Wages don't go up.But all prices do.Heck all most get in the mail is bills and advertisements for stuff we can't afford to buy.Bills we can't pay.Retired or not.

WITH THE MAIL VOLUME BEING DOWN SO LOW,WE NEED TO APPROVE ON CUSTOMER SATISFACTION AND DELIVERY.LONG LINES AT THE WINDOW ARE NOT SATISFACTORY.ALSO,ARE WE 'BITING THE HAND THAT FEEDS US?'THE COMPUTER IS ONE REASON WE ARE HAVING PROBLEMS AND THE ECONOMY ALSO.HOW MANY PEOPLE LOOK AT ALL THE ADS IN OUR INBOX?NOT MANY.I HAD 454 MESSAGES TODAY AND I DELETED THEM ALL.MANY PEOPLE ARE. WE DONT HAVE ALOT OF TIME TO SIT THERE AND LOOK AT THEM WE SHOULD BE GETTING THEM IN THE MAIL.DO NOT GIVE THESE COMPANIES OUR EMAIL ADRESSES,LET THEM MAIL THINGS TO US.

What they need to do is cut out all the 'BS' junk mail, and only deliver the full priced mail.

Those who want the post office closed on Saturday probably are retired or don't work. The Collins Rd office is poorly managed. I spent 20 minutes in line at noon while two employees waited on two people as a long line of customers waited. One person was using the post office as her office. She had at least 30 packages in a big box she was trying to mail and the other customer was using the post office as her bank. The postal employee was counting stacks of dollar bills while the line waited. They need more and better service. The post office in Bath is closed when I go to work and closed when I return from work. It is only open one hour on Saturday 9 to 10. The hours are set for the convenience of the postal worker(s), not the customer. Postal service is getting worse, not better. That is the reality. It is hard to garner sympathy for the post office.

By deleting Saturday delivery, the cost of gas for the trucks would go down considerably. We get or mail once a month through a post office box center who gather it and then send it to us when we call for it. With automatic deposit and automatic payment for bills , who needs mail 6 days a week.

In the age of technology, the U.S. Postal Service is a bloated government entity that has become outdated and obsolete. It is time to completely privatize all mail services. We would receive better service at a more reasonable cost.

shortening the hours is a great idea but even as they shorten hours, they expect the clerks to bring in more revenue- how do you upsell services that people dont want? Maybe cut supervisor bonus programs?

My personal belief is that we should shorten the hours including closing on Saturday. I think stopping Saturday Mail delivery would save a considerable amount of money.

in regards to shortly postal hours during the week, they should cut Saturday deliveries and postal service all together.
