LANSING - Kidnapping charges have been dropped against a 17-year old Lansing man accused in the disappearance of a 10-year old girl last month. At a court hearing Monday, an attorney with the Ingham County prosecutor's office stated the prosecution did not have enough evidence to pursue the kidnapping charge against Xavier Bryant. The first degree criminal sexual conduct charge against Bryant stands. The judge ordered Bryant held over for trial on that charge.
On June 17th an Amber alert was issued for a 10-year old girl who was last seen on Maple Street in Lansing. Her mother made a plea for her return the following day, and she was located within the hour. Xavier Bryant was arrested the evening of June 19th.
