Hundred of Military Veterans gathered at a funeral for Army Cpl. Nyle Yates III in Grand Ledge Monday to protest protesters from Kansas.

Three men from Westboro Baptist Church showed up waving signs and dragging an American flag on the sidewalk. Members of the church have been protesting soldier's funeral around the country claiming God is killing them because they defend a country which supports homosexuality.

The three men were outnumbered Monday as hundred of Veterans from all around Michigan stood on church grounds forming a human shield, shielding family and friends from the comments.

Cpl. Yates, a 22-year-old from Lake Odessa, died March 16 in Iraq when he came under fire by enemy forces during combat.
