Lansing Mayor Virg Bernero released a draft of his proposed budget Friday morning. Although it consisted of eight pages, City Council member Carol Wood says the information was very vague.
"What we have is a conglomeration of ideas and some proposals. But I don't have any idea of what anything generates. We're gonna get additional revenue for property taxes. I don't know what that means. Is that $10 or $10 million more. I don't know."
She says the pages were an extremely rough draft. And she's not sure what to make of it.
"Right now at this point I can't really tell you whether this budget is good or bad based on what I see in front of me."
The mayor's exact budget proposal is scheduled to be released on Monday. According to the city's charter, a final vote must take place by the third Monday in May.
